Msuku community is an isolated, remote area in Rumphi East, Malawi. Communication is only by boat; there is no road network. Some people in the area have never seen a car, not even a bicycle. The people drink water from contaminated shallow wells and the lak e.
The intervention
The project aims to construct 4,5 km of water pipeline, install 10,000-litre water storage tanks and provide 15 water stations/kiosk for rural communities. It will establish a sustainable model for improving access to safe drinking water through a community-based water management system. DRAO, in consultation with the Water Engineer and the District Water and Sanitation Team, has adopted Pipe Born Water Technology (PBWT), which the Assembly’s District Water and Sanitation Team highly recommends.
Divine Relief Aid Outreach is seeking funding for PHASE 2 to complete implementation of the project
